JEE Main 2018 | Difference between Offline and Online Mode

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main 2018) registrations would start from tomorrow December 1, 2017. All candidates can apply online on the official website. The official website is Many students will apply for the examination. However, there will be a question of registration for online or offline.

Difference between offline and online JEE Main 2018 examination

The offline JEE Main 2018 examination, or called as pen and paper exam will be conducted on April 8, 2017.  The online or the computer-based JEE exam would be conducted on April 15th and 16th examination. Although the offline and online modes are different. But there is no difference between the difficulty or the pattern of the exam.

However, the difference is in offline and online mode. The paper -I that is going to happen will be in two modes offline and online. The computer-based or the online mode is the only option for people outside India. There are also some centers which do not have the option for pen and paper mode.

Paper -II which is going to happen on April 8, 2018, will only have paper and pen (offline ) mode for both India and abroad.  However, the Paper-I which is going to happen will have an online option for students living outside India except students living in (except in the cities of Dubai, Muscat, Bahrain, Riyadh, Qatar, and Sharjah). Paper-I is going to be on April 15th, 2018.

How to decide between online or offline mode for JEE Main 2018 exam

All the candidates in India can choose amongst pen and paper or computer-based mode. All the centers in India will have both modes. Although candidates can choose the option according to their modes and centers. Paper-I exam would be conducted on April 8, 2017. And this will be of pen and paper mode.

CBSE would conduct a mock JEE test in the month of December. To familiarize the candidates with the nature of the examination. The students will get hands-on in the practice of how to attempt. Those students who are not sure about attempting the computer-based or pen and paper test should give the mock test first.

Online Registrations of JEE Main 2018  will start by 1 December 2017.
