CBSE has released the JEE Mains examination notification last week. As per the official notification, the online applications for JEE Mains 2018 would start from December 1, 2017. What are the Eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2018 Examination
The eligibility criteria to appear in the JEE Mains 2018 has been divided into 4 categories. These four categories are Date of birth or age limit, educational requirements, year of appearing in the qualifying or Class 12 board examination, and the total number of attempts allowed. It is to be noted that the scores of JEE Mains and minimum percent of class 12 is required for admissions for NIIT, IIIT, and CFTI admissions.
Here are the 4 criteria for eligibility with their details
- Age limit: Maximum Age limit to appear for the examination is 25 years. A relaxation of 5 years is given to the ST/SC and PWD category students. Although candidates should be born after October 1, 1993. The cutoff date for determining the maximum age limit is October 1, 1988.
- Candidate should have cleared the class 12th or equivalent board. Only class 12 students who have appeared in 2016,2017 and those who are still in 2018 are eligible. However, all the candidates who appeared in the 2015 but failed and reappeared in 2016 are not eligible for JEE Mains Examination.
- Appearing candidate should have taken 5 subjects in class 12th. For students who have written only 4 subjects are not eligible.
- Finally, a candidate is only allowed 3 times maximum for appearing in the JEE Mains Examination. For students appearing for the states of Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, and Odisha this provision is not extended. These students would have to check with their state boards for maximum attempts.
